Black Exhaust Smoke

Description

Thick black or dark grey smoke from the exhaust. Indicates the engine is burning too much fuel (running rich).

Common Causes

Stuck-open or leaking fuel injectors
Failed mass airflow sensor
High fuel pressure
Restricted air filter blocking airflow
