Description
Metallic knocking, pinging, or rattling sound from the engine, especially under load or acceleration. May indicate detonation or mechanical wear.
Common Causes
Low-octane fuel causing detonation
Knock sensor failure masking timing retard
Critically low oil pressure
Carbon deposits on pistons causing hot spots
